Joined the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi  in 1982, Dr N.C. Jain is currently  Editor ( Production) of the Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR) and Scientist ‘F’[ Deputy Director General ( Senior Grade)] in the Division of Publication & Information, ICMR. Dr Jain is associated with the IJMR, research evaluation, modernization of the library and information network of ICMR institutes, IPR issues for a short time and human resource development programmes, especially through conducting workshops on biomedical communication, among others.

He has studied in the University of Delhi, Delhi for various degrees including the Ph.D. in life sciences. Dr Jain has also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi and General Course on Intellectual Property from World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva.

In his professional career spanning over 30 years, he has immensely contributed in structuring biomedical communication as a tool of mass information . His studies especially in information analysis and interpretation have added newer understanding to the cause of information science domain. Dr Jain has over 50 papers on S&T communication, book reviews,  etc. in research journals / books / proceedings, two handbooks on communication, over 100 articles in newspapers, popular science magazines and over 60 AIR programmes to his credit.

Dr Jain is recipient of the Raizada Memorial Award 1992 for Young Information Scientist of the Society for Information Science, New Delhi and the B.C.Deb Memorial Award for Popularization of Science for 1997-98 of the Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata.
Traveled widely in India and abroad like PR China, France  for his professional development, he is member of various professional societies like COLLNET, World Association of Medical Editors, European Association of Science Editors, Indian Science Writers Association, Society for Information Science, Indian Science Congress Association, etc.

Presently Dr Ramaiah is working as Professor and Head, Department of Library & Information Science at Pondicherry University, Puducherry – 605014. Prior to that he worked as Professor & Head, Department of Library & Information Science, and University Librarian at Dravidian University, Kuppam. Before that he worked as Professor & Librarian at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad. Ramaiah also worked as the Director, Centre for Information Science, Mahatma Gandhi National Institute of Research and Social Action, Hyderabad for two years. Dr. Ramaiah worked as an Assistant Professor for 6 years with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 1999-2005. Prior to that Dr Ramaiah was Deputy Director at DESIDOC, Delhi a national information centre in Defence Science & Technology in India. He has worked for 14 years with the DRDO, Delhi as Scientist, in various areas including conducting research, heading Research & Development Facilities Division, Multimedia Lab, A-V Division, and Defence Science Library. He was a Commonwealth Scholar for doing Ph.D. in UK in the filed of Information Science in England during 1989-2003. Soon after obtaining his Ph.D., he came back to India and setup a multimedia lab and worked several years in designing multimedia applications, presentation and training materials. His formal education includes Masters de­grees in Chemistry and Library and Information Science. He is a member of many international professional bodies/ societies such as the Institute of Information Scientists, Library Association, London; American Society for Information Science & Technology, Association of Computing Machinery, International Federation of Library Association and institutions, Netherland and Association for Library and Information Science Education, Chicago, USA. Ramaiah had been to more than a dozen countries on various professional matters, attending conferences, seminars and workshops. He has published more than 90 papers and four books. Dr Ramaiah’s research interests include multimedia & hypertext technologies, human-computer interaction, user interfaces, designing e-books, e-publishing, e-learning, archival informatics and bibliometrics.

Dr. Sujit Bhattacharya is a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi, MSc (Physics) from Delhi University, Associateship in Information Science from CSIR-NISCAIR (previously INSDOC). He is presently Senior Principal Scientist in CSIR-NISTADS, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scientometric Research and Guest Faculty in CSSP-Jawaharlal Nehru University. His main area of work is in Science and Technology Policy Studies, Scientometrics, and studying IPR in the context of Research, Innovation and Development. He has more than twenty years of research experience and was Professor (on deputation from NISTADS) in the Centre for Studies in Science Policy-JNU during 2007-2009. Among his other academic assignments include Governing Body Member of the Deen Dayal Upadhayay College-University for Delhi during the period 2009-10. He has published over fifty research papers in peer reviewed journals and conference proceeding and presented papers at various national and international conferences. Among his academic assignment include developing a course in Intellectual Property Rights in CSSP-JNU. He is principal investigator of the international collaborative network ‘COLLNET’, Asia editor of the International Society of Scientometrics and Information Management (ISSI) newsletter, members of various program committees of international/national conferences in various capacities, and thesis supervisor of international/national universities. His recent work includes leading a national project on ‘Knowledge creation and Innovation in Nanotechnology in India’ and launching the journal ‘Journal of Scientometric Research’.

Parveen Babbar is Assistant Librarian in Library & Documentation Division at Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi, India. Prior to this he had been associated with University of Delhi, India and has more than eight years of professional experience. He has submitted his Doctor of Philosophy in LIS from University of Rajasthan. He holds M.Phil. (Library & Information Science) from Annamalai University; M.L.I.Sc from University of Delhi. and Masters of Computer Application; Masters of Business Administration from Indira Gandhi National Open University. He had been Gold Medalist in MLISc from Delhi University, India.

He had been Junior Research Fellow and has cleared JRF-NET exam from UGC, India. He has taken many projects of Library Automation & Digitization like CALPI Library Setup for Swiss Agency. He is a member of Special Libraries Association, USA and is presently member of Career Guidance / Employment Committee of SLA Asian Chapter. He had also been the Webmaster in the Board of Asian Chapter, SLA.

He has received many awards and scholarships. He is the recipient of the Professor S Dasgupta Gold Medal for being best candidate in Master in Library and Information Science Examination from University of Delhi in 2003 and SLA Asian Librarian Award at the SLA 2010 Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA, USA. He received the scholarship from Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, 2009 and IFLA grant for the assignment in the year 2010.He was invited as Invited Speaker to speak at the Fourth International M-Libraries Conference on 26th September 2012 at The Open University, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom.

He has presented many papers in National & International Conferences and published about 30 papers in reputed journals and proceedings. He has organised a number of national and international conferences holding key positions in organising committees related to Library & Information Science including ICoASL, 2008; ICDL, 2010; LIPS, 2012 and many more.

He was the recipient of Sixth International Paper Contest Award organized by the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIST) Special Interest Group on International Information Issues (SIG III) in 2006.He is associated with several professional associations in various capacities in India and abroad including SLA, USA; Society for Library Professionals, India; Society for Information Science, India.

Prior to that he worked as Information Analyst at CSIR URDIP, Pune. His formal education includes Masters De­grees in Bioinformatics and Consultancy Management.
